Drogheda Arts Festival returns to the banks of the Boyne for six days of the finest in performances, readings, exhibitions, workshops and fun. From the 29th of April to the 4th of May, Drogheda becomes the arts capital of Ireland, with an exciting line-up of local, national, and international artists.  Drogheda Arts Festival is a wonderful opportunity to dip your toe into the wide world of creativity, offering the well-known and well-loved alongside the unknown and the soon-to-be-loved.

The Drogheda Arts Festival is devised, managed and produced by Drogheda Borough Council’s Arts Office and funded by Drogheda Borough Council, Fáilte Ireland, the Arts Council & Louth County Council. Committed to presenting a unique programme covering all art forms to a wide audience, this major annual event contributes significantly to the economic, social, cultural & artistic life of the town.

Whether you decide to step outside your comfort-zone and step onto a bus for a tour of teenage life (No Change Given - bus stop on Dominic Street), or sit on the cushioned pews in St Peter's for the best in Russian contemporary music (The Rest is Noise - the Music of Alexander Knaifel), whether you find yourself thinking outside the box at Boxes (Coiscéim - Droichead Arts Centre) or set-dancing in the shadow of a Martello Tower (Traditional Day - Millmount), the Drogheda Arts Festival combines craic and laughter with new ways of looking at the world.  Now, perhaps more than ever, the arts can help us make sense of these turbulent times, allowing us fresh insights into the life we live.  Drogheda Arts Festival reinforces the fact that we live in a community, not just an economy, and that events such as the Family Fun Day and the Traditional Day in Millmount strengthen those ties which define us a community, with shared hopes and dreams.

Initiated by Rosemary Collier, continued by Rosemary Howell, and lead in 2009 by Alice Ring, Drogheda Arts Festival is the culmination of much hard work in fundraising, planning, marketing and staging the fastest-growing Arts Festival in the country.  Drogheda has much to be proud of, and the Drogheda Arts Festival positions the town as one where culture and imagination are valued and appreciated. On behalf of everyone who has worked and contributed towards the Festival, we would like to invite you to dip that toe into the Festival programme, and enjoy six days of inspiration!
