Situated just outside the lovely peaceful town of Manorhamilton is the beautiful Glencar Waterfall.
It is not Irelands biggest waterfall, but nonetheless it creates a stunning vista as the waters power their way down into Glencar Lake, one of the numerous lakes that give such credibility to the aura of Lovely Leitrim.
W.B. Yeats, who was a fervent visitor to this area made this enchanting waterfall famous in his poem, The Stolen Child.
In the Annals of the Four Masters, it is stated that Glencar is where gun powder was first used in Ireland in 1487.
