About Dromahair in County Leitrim is a dramatically beautiful place, sitting on the shores of the tranquil Lough Gill.

Just beyond the village you will find Parkes Castle, a solemn building looking across the lake as if in awe of it.

The actual address of the castle is Five Mile Burren.

The beauty of Lough Gill with its many islands and sweeping viewpoints around the lake adds to the lustre of Parkes Castle.

Parkers Castle is a restored 17th century castle that was only completed in the last few years.

The castle encloses a fortified manor house, which forms one part of its defensive walls and of which two feature round turrets that make an impressive facade.

It was originally built on the site of a 12th century castle and the Manor House was added to it in 1600 by one Captain Robert Parke, hence the name of the castle.

Parkes Castle commands tremendous views of Lough Gill thanks to its imposing height rising to three stories.

The interior of the castle was restored using traditional methods of fine workmanship in Irish oak.
