About The Sugarloaf Mountain in County Wicklow is the iconic emblem of the county.

So called because it resembles a heap of sugar, the mountain is located near Kilmacanogue village, just south of the town of Bray.

It rises 501 metres high into a sharp peak.

It is a very prominent mountain with its unusual and distinctive pointed summit that is visible from many surrounding counties.

The lower areas of the mountain are fertile and suitable for sheep grazing but the upper reaches are barren and rocky.

The Sugar Loaf is a popular amenity for people wishing to climb to the top of the mountain to enjoy the spectacular views across the plains of Ireland and out to the Irish Sea.
